Indo-Ninja - bass

Outdo-Ninja - drums

Indo-Ninja (bass) and Outdo-Ninja (drums) are both originally from the San Gabriel Valley, just east of Los Angeles. They met during their high school years and played in their first band together. Over the years they have continued to play and collaborate together, honing their skills first on rock music and later on jazz under the name bra'ka dOm. As any good ninja knows, it would take them years of practice and patience to get where they are today.

Now, Ninja Academy as they are collectively known, execute their unique style effortlessly with the precision of a Katana blade. Their instrumental compositions, which go by names like Neckface, Kung Fu Grip, and Ninja Ho Down, sneak up on you and kick your ass with the short, swift strokes of a skilled ninja. These Ninjas don't mess around. They work mostly alone but they sometimes invite guest ninjas to step up and show what they have learned.

Ninja Academy has surprised people at almost every club in Los Angeles, including Spaceland, The Echo, The Viper Room and Silverlake Lounge (which in May of 2006 they scored a Monday night residency, playing to a full house all 5 weeks). They have opened for Rx Bandits at The Roxy (a sold out show), Donita Sparks (L7) for her CD release, Banyan at DiPiazza's in Long Beach and Nels Cline Singers at Safari Sam's in Hollywood. In January of 2007 they held a (sold out, beyond capacity) goodbye show for their martial artist, Donkey Punch, at The Echo. This show was filmed and recorded by Spaceland Productions and is available for purchase worldwide. Since January of 2006 they have hosted, and continue to host, an All-Instrumental Night at Mr. T's Bowl in Highland Park featuring some of the best independent instrumental bands from around the country. In the summer of 2005, Ninja Academy was invited to perform at the 9th annual piNoisepop Festival in San Francisco, playing alongside bands like From Monument To Masses. They have had a majority of their songs from their first album, "Enter The Ninja", played on MTV's "The Real World" and "Real World/Road Rules Challenge". They have performed live at KXLU, KAOS (Olympia, WA), and KUCI (Irvine, CA) radio, in addition to being played on various radio stations around the country. As Indo-Ninja so eloquently puts it, "You never know when a Ninja is going to show up."

The release of Ninja Academy's second album, "bra'ka dOm" was recorded completely analog and is a completely independent release. Their third release, "Live at the Echo", was released by Kufala Recordings and is distributed world-wide.

Here is what some have said about Ninja Academy:

"That's when you'll get a taste of some truly cutting-edge music...If you're sick of the same old stuff, this should provide the antidote." - Pasadena Weekly

"The entire album (bra'ka dOm) is interesting and sharp to listen to... Highly recommended!" - Autopia.com

"I'm more impressed with their song craft and how well they can glide through a variety of styles." - DrowningInCulture.com
